About the position

The Ingredient Sales Representative at The Morning Star Company is responsible for developing new business opportunities and maintaining customer relationships within the food industry. This role requires frequent on-site presence at the Los Banos, CA facilities, especially during the initial phase, to build trust and understand customer needs. The ideal candidate will possess a hunter mentality, strong communication skills, and the ability to multitask effectively in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain an enthusiastic presence for Morning Star in the marketplace.
• Create and update a customer-specific business plan quarterly to maintain or grow existing business.
• Conduct new business development efforts with prospective accounts, including new product opportunities and strategic initiatives.
• Collaborate with technical support colleagues to develop new sales opportunities and address customer issues.
• Update customer database software to track sales activities, forecasting, and movement analysis.
• Utilize reports to monitor actual shipments versus commitments and take action to maintain customer shipment commitments.

Requirements

• Experience in sales processes and tactics, particularly in prospecting and consultative selling.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to multitask and adapt to change quickly.
• Proficiency in Microsoft applications, specifically Excel and PowerPoint.
• Background in the food industry and/or distribution is preferred.
• Understanding of the processed tomato market is a plus.
