About the position

The Inhouse Corporate Legal Counsel (Commercial) will provide legal support primarily in commercial transactions and privacy law, while also addressing corporate law, contract negotiation, and regulatory compliance. This role is essential for safeguarding the organization against legal risks through thorough research and analysis, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations, and providing sound legal advice to executives and internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate and timely legal counsel to executives on various legal topics.
  • Offer legal advice on corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and contractual matters.
  • Review, draft, and negotiate contracts and legal documents with internal and external parties.
  • Maintain and update document templates and create initial drafts of agreements.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis on relevant laws and regulations.
  • Identify legal risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Assist with corporate transactions such as mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to address legal issues and ensure compliance.
  • Represent the company in legal proceedings and negotiations.
  • Monitor changes in laws and regulations and advise on implications.
  • Develop and deliver legal training and education programs for employees.
  • Maintain organized legal records and databases.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) required.
  • Licensed attorney with a valid bar membership.
  • 5-7+ years of corporate legal experience.
  • Proven experience as a Legal Counsel or similar role in a corporate environment.
  • Strong understanding of corporate law, contract law, and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent legal research and analytical skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders.
  • Strong negotiation and problem-solving abilities.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in work.
  • Integrity and professionalism in handling confidential information.
