About the position

The Injection Molding Process Engineer is a hands-on role responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating manufacturing equipment and processes to produce high-quality injection molded products. This position involves coordinating molding efforts on new program launches, revising manufacturing processes, and assisting with problem-solving and continuous improvements. The engineer will also mentor and train other personnel in injection molding, while documenting and presenting findings to management.

Responsibilities

  • Develop new processes and assess existing ones to improve product quality and productivity.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to process technicians and operators.
  • Maintain clear and understandable process documentation for all employees.
  • Offer technical support to improve yield, throughput, and part quality.
  • Start-up, operate, and shut down process-related equipment as needed.
  • Troubleshoot current production issues and develop new processes.
  • Collaborate with equipment and material vendors to resolve issues.
  • Monitor injection molds and recommend refurbishment based on production factors.
  • Interact with customers to resolve issues and provide project updates.
  • Implement technical solutions using statistical methodologies to meet customer expectations.
  • Support facility and manufacturing safety, environmental, and ergonomics efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Plastics, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • 3-5 years of practical work experience in an Injection Molding Operation.
  • Strong technical background in injection molding processing, tooling, equipment, materials, and quality.
  • Self-starter with high self-motivation and ability to work with little direction.
  • Ability to manage multiple start-up projects.
  • Superior communication (written and verbal), teamwork, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent computer skills, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated ability to think creatively and recommend options.
  • Ability to lead others, including indirect supervision of process technicians.
