About the position

The Injection Molding Process Engineer at Flex is responsible for enhancing thermoplastic injection molding processes to improve cost, quality, and delivery within the manufacturing organization. This role involves collaborating with engineering stakeholders, troubleshooting process issues, and implementing process control methodologies to ensure robust and repeatable manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

  • Recognize the manufacturing process, technologies, techniques, and the product.
  • Define, implement, and evaluate proposed designs and processes for manufacturability.
  • Identify root causes of failures in the manufacturing process either independently or with other engineering stakeholders.
  • Participate in daily production activities and effectively solve daily issues.
  • Prepare justification, purchase, and implement capital equipment for production.
  • Oversee new process equipment production and the introduction of engineering change orders (ECOs).
  • Establish robust, repeatable, and reproducible process parameters.
  • Develop, implement, and take ownership of process control methodologies.
  • Troubleshoot process-related issues.
  • Participate in activities pertaining to cycle time and process improvements.
  • Evaluate and select various engineered materials.
  • Implement statistical process research on new and existing products.
  • Implement safety, productivity, and quality improvements.
  • Improve manufacturing techniques and throughput.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation.
  • Review processing methods and interface with production on new process implementation and transfer.
  • Assist in the development of training and provide training to production personnel during new technology transfer.
  • Provide equipment maintenance and repair support as required.
  • Guide cost improvement/reduction programs.

Requirements

  • 5+ years' experience in process development (IQ, OQ, PQ), tooling, and scientific molding/thermoplastic injection molding.
  • RJG Scientific Molding Training or equivalent formal training.
  • Attention to detail in relation to manufacturing and injection molding processes.
  • RJG/E-Dart experience preferred.
  • Experience in Class 7 or 8 Cleanrooms preferred.
  • Data analysis/statistics experience with Excel, Minitab, or similar platforms preferred.
