About the position

The Injection Molding Process Engineer at BWAY Corporation is responsible for both administrative and technical functions within the plant. This role involves managing capital expenditure projects, coordinating equipment upgrades, and leading technical training for plant personnel. The engineer will also troubleshoot processes and machines, develop new processes, and continuously seek improvements in equipment performance.

Responsibilities

• Act as technical injection molding lead in the plant
• Write and manage all Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) projects for the injection molding department and other facility projects as needed
• Coordinate equipment moves, upgrades, and installations
• Oversee new tool start-up and qualification
• Investigate equipment failures and implement corrective actions
• Continuously seek opportunities to improve equipment performance and operations
• Train maintenance technicians on proper machine operation and injection molding processes
• Maintain machine and tool preventive maintenance program to minimize downtime and quality issues
• Manage third-party tool work in conjunction with Corporate Tooling Engineer
• Enforce safety rules daily and intervene to correct unsafe actions and conditions
• Perform various other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of proven hands-on injection molding process experience
• Ability to read and understand electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics/drawings
• Experience with continuous improvement programs
• Ability to specify molds and machines for application
• Familiarity with ISO 9001
• Good leadership skills; supervisory experience is a plus
• Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English; bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
• Mechanical Engineering or Technical degree is a plus
• Willingness to travel occasionally
