About the position

The Process Technician "A" at Georg Fischer is responsible for overseeing mold/tooling changes and setups, troubleshooting machinery, and ensuring a safe and efficient production environment. This role requires leadership skills to train and guide other employees in the molding process, ensuring that all products meet quality standards. The technician will work with minimal supervision and is expected to maintain safety and cleanliness in the workspace.

Responsibilities

  • Changeover of tooling and/or mold base.
  • Troubleshoot all operating equipment.
  • Process all materials for production.
  • Start-up and shut down of the molding department.
  • Ensure proper materials are used at each machine.
  • Set up all accessory equipment properly, including material feeds and auxiliary cooling.
  • Maintain safe operation of machinery, including safety switches and electrical wiring.
  • Keep set-up records on tools, preventative maintenance, and run profiles.
  • Adjust machines to produce quality products.
  • Train Operators and Technician "B" on equipment and processes.
  • Operate all equipment within the department as needed.
  • Report any safety problems to the Supervisor.
  • Follow company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.
  • Cover shifts in the absence of the Supervisor.
  • Support the established quality policy and fulfill roles in the quality system manual.

Requirements

  • Must meet all requirements of a Process Technician "B" and "C".
  • High school graduate or GED equivalent.
  • Ability to read and write English clearly and concisely.
  • Minimum of eight years of plastic processing experience or six years in a similar role with a certificate from an accredited trade school.
  • Thorough knowledge of machine and tooling functions and interactions.
  • Ability to perform machine repairs and preventative maintenance.
  • Ability to facilitate efficient operation of equipment and perform set-ups for applicable jobs.
  • Must be able to furnish basic hand tools required for the position.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in leadership and training of employees.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures.
  • Familiarity with measuring devices and testing.
