About the position

The Injection Molding Technician is responsible for setting up and maintaining injection molding machines, ensuring production processes meet quality standards, and training junior operators. This role involves travel to Florida for training on new equipment and assisting with the transition of this equipment back to Ohio. The technician must be adaptable and proactive in shaping new processes and training procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Sets up injection molding machines according to production process specifications.
  • Performs mold changes, including core cavity and inserts in MUD style mold bases, and equipment changeovers efficiently.
  • Monitors production processes and adjusts as needed to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves issues with machines, molds, and processes.
  • Conducts routine maintenance and preventive care on equipment.
  • Inspects finished products for quality and conformity to specifications.
  • Documents production data, process parameters, and quality metrics.
  • Ensures compliance with safety regulations and company procedures.
  • Trains and mentors junior operators or technicians.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree in plastics technology is a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in injection molding or related field.
  • Strong understanding of injection molding processes and equipment.
  • Experience in reading blueprints and technical documentation.
  • Experience with quality control tools and techniques (e.g., calipers, micrometers).
  • Knowledge of plastic materials and their properties.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and ISO standards.
  • Proven problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Physical ability to lift 50lbs and stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to operate lifting equipment, including cranes and die cart lifts.
  • Experience with robotics and automation in injection molding.
  • Understanding of scientific molding principles.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry and report generation.
