About the position

The Ink Technician position at QPS Employment Group involves working with inks and printing processes, primarily in the corrugated industry. The role requires a strong understanding of color management and the ability to coordinate ink production to meet production schedules. The technician will be responsible for maintaining the ink kitchen, training operators, and ensuring quality control in printing operations.

Responsibilities

• Use a spectrophotometer
• Order or initiate orders for the various ink bases
• Assist operator in attaining the correct ink color on the sheet being printed
• Coordinate with production scheduler the correct ink and the correct amount of ink to have to produce all orders
• Perform end-of-month inventories of all inks and ink bases
• Keep ink kitchen clean and organized at all times
• Maintain accuracy of scales for weighing ink
• Train operators in the operation of the ink kitchen and the adjustment of inks on press to maintain proper quality of print
• Monitor non-use of various inks and report on a monthly basis
• Complete necessary reports in an accurate and timely manner, including but not limited to: Production Data, Machine Operational Status, Safety Data, Quality Data
• When inks become inactive work-off into black ink or some other color, if possible
• Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and maintaining good housekeeping
• Adhere to production schedule; make recommendations for optimizing the schedule to meet cost, quality and service goals; report any unusual scheduling issues to Supervisor
• Additional duties may be assigned by management

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Experience working with inks, printing, and color
• Prior work experience in the corrugated industry
• Experience as a Press Department Operator
• Education or training in art
