About the position

The Ink Technician is responsible for ensuring the quality and compliance of solvent packaging inks by blending, producing, and controlling quality according to job specifications. This role operates during the 3rd shift (11:00 pm - 7:00 am) and emphasizes safety, regulatory adherence, and effective communication across shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Champion and foster a safe work environment by adhering to all safety and regulatory procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable PPE and Food Safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Review and understand Print Master for ink requirements.
  • Monitor and understand X-rite and Lab readings.
  • Operate and maintain all equipment, including Ink Dispenser and K-Proofer.
  • Support maintenance department and perform preventive maintenance of equipment.
  • Maintain complete and accurate records of all technical information.
  • Learn to troubleshoot at press side by recording and monitoring press run/downtime.
  • Clearly communicate job status to other shifts and involved personnel.
  • Follow staging procedures to store inks based on the daily press schedule.
  • Identify press returns and follow the work off program of materials.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement projects.
  • Complete other related duties as assigned by managers or supervisors.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent reading and writing skills.
  • 2+ years' experience operating Ink dispenser, X-Rite Exact Spectro, Lab Mixer, Kit Mixer, Hand Proofer, Lab and production scales.
  • Basic knowledge of different ink types and Flexographic printing processes.
  • Must pass color blindness test.
  • Mathematical skills and ability to read a measuring tape.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and computer literacy in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to interpret work orders and Print Master.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience operating a printing press (Flexo, Stack, Litho, Gravure).
  • Knowledge of solvent ink formulations and laminating processes.
