About the position

The Inland Region Purchasing Manager at Boise Cascade is responsible for formulating purchasing plans, establishing priorities and strategies, and preparing key performance indicators (KPIs) for management. This role requires a deep understanding of the market to ensure maximum value in terms of quality, availability, price, and technological assistance for MRO, capital, or services purchases. The position also involves managing inventories, negotiating with vendors, and training regional purchasing personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Formulate purchasing plans for the region and establish appropriate priorities and strategies.
  • Prepare KPIs for management to track purchasing performance.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of the market to ensure maximum value in purchasing decisions.
  • Manage inventories to minimize financial investment while ensuring adequate levels for production.
  • Negotiate with vendors and analyze quotes to achieve improved performance and results.
  • Assist in the preparation of selected AFEs and provide input for capital and budgeting for region management.
  • Train regional purchasing personnel and new hires in purchasing, warehousing, inventory control, and receiving techniques.
  • Respond actively to customer needs and be open to change.

Requirements

  • College degree or equivalent work experience in a related job function.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of purchasing experience.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
