About the position

HATCI (Hyundai America Technical Center) is seeking an intermediate to advanced-level UX design researcher who is passionate about understanding user needs and translating them into innovative features for Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis vehicles. This role involves conducting user research, analyzing UX/UI trends, and developing design requirements for future vehicle implementations. The researcher will engage in a user-centered design approach, facilitating research to uncover user expectations and unspoken needs, ultimately enhancing the automobile user experience.

Responsibilities

• Conduct user research to inform design decisions for future vehicle features.
• Capture the voice of customers and identify unspoken user needs.
• Translate current design pain points into innovative design insights.
• Demonstrate design ideas through flow, interface design, and interactive prototypes.
• Test and co-create novel feature/application/service design opportunities with potential users.
• Support a team culture of empathy and understanding of user needs while balancing business decisions.
• Communicate research data and design ideas effectively to internal and external collaborators.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Interaction/Experience Design.
• 8+ years of working experience in UX design.
• 3+ years of working experience in the automobile industry.
• Valid Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record.
• Portfolio demonstrating experience in requirement analysis for design and software development.
• Advanced knowledge of UX trends including Data Art, adaptive UI, multimodal interface, and more.

Nice-to-haves

• History of patent that demonstrates design innovation.
• Experience with multimedia/visual authoring/prototyping tools such as Cinema4D and Blender.
