About the position
The Inpatient Cardiovascular Nurse Practitioner at Ochsner Health System is responsible for providing comprehensive medical care to patients in a collaborative environment. This role involves working under the supervision of a Medical Director and in conjunction with various healthcare professionals to manage patient care, including emergency stabilization and discharge planning. The position emphasizes patient education, staff development, and adherence to medical protocols, ensuring high-quality care for critically ill patients.
Responsibilities
- Utilizes approved medical practices in the delivery of patient care.
- Provides care based on physical, psycho/social, educational, safety, and related criteria appropriate to patient ages.
- Maintains an attitude of inquiry towards medical practices and patient care outcomes.
- Provides educational experiences to patient families, staff, and the community.
- Adapts behavior to specific patient populations, ensuring respect for privacy and effective communication.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Requirements
- Master's degree in nursing.
- Current License as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the state of practice.
- Certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner or Adult/Geriatric Nurse Practitioner.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification from the American Heart Association.
- Eligible for Prescriptive Authority in the state of practice.
