About the position

Are you an experienced and detail-oriented professional in the field of Inpatient Coding? We are seeking a highly qualified individual with at least 5 years of experience to join our team, and the option to work remotely is available. In this role, you will be responsible for accurately assigning codes to inpatient medical records using ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems. You will ensure adherence to federal regulations and guidelines while collaborating with healthcare providers to clarify diagnoses and procedures for accurate coding. Additionally, you will resolve coding edits and denials, maintaining current knowledge of coding guidelines and regulatory changes to ensure compliance and accuracy in coding practices.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately assign codes to inpatient medical records using ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
  • Ensure adherence to federal regulations and guidelines.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify diagnoses and procedures for accurate coding.
  • Resolve coding edits and denials.
  • Maintain current knowledge of coding guidelines and regulatory changes.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of inpatient facility coding experience.
  • Must have AHIMA certification (CCA, CCS) or AAPC certification (CPC, CIC).
  • Proficiency in ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
  • Thorough understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
  • Strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively manage time.
