About the position
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at Monument Health is responsible for providing direct and indirect patient care in inpatient and ambulatory dialysis units. The role involves working collaboratively under the supervision of a physician or Registered Nurse (RN) to ensure high-quality nursing care in accordance with established policies and the South Dakota Nurse Practice Act.
Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care to assigned patients under the supervision of a physician or RN.
- Accurately complete and document focused assessments and clinical interventions.
- Administer and document medications according to best practices and departmental policies.
- Perform nursing procedures and treatments within the defined scope of responsibilities.
- Assist RN with data collection pertinent to the assessment process.
- Participate in care planning and the development of nursing interventions.
- Provide reinforcement of health teaching and discharge instructions provided by RN/provider.
- Participate in departmental development through meetings and continued education.
- Assist in onboarding and mentoring of clinical staff.
- Ensure accurate and clear documentation in patient records.
Requirements
- Completion of a nursing education program approved by a board of nursing.
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) certification from the South Dakota Board of Nursing.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from the American Heart Association within 60 days of hire.
