About the position
The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant will join the inpatient nephrology services team at URMC, focusing on providing exceptional patient care for individuals with end-stage renal disease and acute kidney injuries. This role involves evaluating and managing patients, coordinating care, and performing necessary procedures, all within a collaborative team environment.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate and manage patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) requiring ongoing dialysis therapy, including writing dialysis orders and coordinating care with other inpatient services.
- Assess and treat patients with acute kidney injury, electrolyte imbalances, and volume/blood pressure disorders, prescribing dialysis and Continuous Veno-Venous Hemofiltration (CVVHDF) as appropriate.
- Bill for services rendered.
- Assist in performing kidney biopsies.
Requirements
- Master's Degree in Nursing or related field and an active New York State license in good standing for Nurse Practitioners.
- Completion of an AMA approved Physician Assistant program, licensure in good standing, and certification as a Registered Physician Assistant for Physician Assistants.
- 5 years of experience as an RN with one to three years of leadership experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience for Nurse Practitioners.
- Demonstrated clinical competence, superior verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal effectiveness, and customer relation skills.
