About the position

The position involves evaluating, planning, directing, and administering occupational therapy modalities of treatment as prescribed by a licensed physician. The therapist assists patients in reaching their maximum performance and level of functioning while learning to live within the limits of their capabilities. The role includes participation in operational aspects of the department, maintaining performance improvement activities, and participating in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates and treats patients within the scope of care in a cost-effective manner.
  • Assesses patient pain that interferes with optimal function and provides intervention.
  • Documents patient care in a timely and accurate manner following Sharp HealthCare guidelines.
  • Participates in departmental goals and initiatives, collaborating with leadership on clinical and operational projects.
  • Maintains departmental cleanliness and safety, and meets productivity standards established by department leadership.
  • Participates in interdisciplinary rounds and staffing as required.

Requirements

  • California Occupational Therapist license - CA Board of Occupational Therapy - REQUIRED
  • AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association - REQUIRED

Nice-to-haves

  • Graduate of an approved school of Occupational Therapy or accredited college/university with a certificate in Occupational Therapy.
  • Experience in all aspects of occupational therapy.
