About the position

Barnes-Jewish Hospital at Washington University Medical Center is seeking a dedicated and collaborative Inpatient Pharmacy Technician 2 to join our experienced pharmacy team. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about patient care and are looking for opportunities for growth in a supportive environment. The position operates on a 7 on, 7 off schedule during the night shift, providing a unique work-life balance. As a part of our pharmacy team, you will be involved in both inpatient and outpatient care, working in either the central pharmacy or at one of our many satellite locations. You will have the chance to collaborate with leading physicians in groundbreaking therapies and utilize state-of-the-art technologies that ensure the highest quality and efficiency in your work. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing medication orders under the direct supervision of a staff pharmacist, assisting in the dispensing and transporting of medications, and conducting both sterile and non-sterile compounding. You will also be expected to maintain quality assurance standards and required documentation, ensuring compliance with regulatory cleanliness standards. The pharmacy at Barnes-Jewish Hospital employs an integrated practice model, allowing for a variety of clinical experiences and access to numerous drug information resources, including an on-site drug information center for more in-depth inquiries. This position offers a $2,000 sign-on bonus, reflecting our commitment to attracting the best pharmacy professionals in the region.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains quality assurance standards and required documentation; maintains regulatory cleanliness compliance.
  • Assists in the preparation of medication orders, including workflow management, basic preparation & dispensing, and non-sterile compounding.
  • Uses automated/electronic systems to manage product preparation, inventory, patient records, and regulatory compliance.
  • Supports various inventory activities, including inventory storage, ordering, rotating, beyond use dating, and cleanliness.
  • Pursues proficiency in compounding sterile preparations and/or other advanced skills.

  • High School Diploma or GED.
