About the position

The Certified Technician plays a crucial role in supporting pharmacists by reviewing, compounding, and dispensing medications. This position operates under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist and is integral to ensuring the safe and effective delivery of pharmaceutical services. The role also includes participation in the Pharmacy Technician Incentive Program, which rewards commitment over a two-year period.

Responsibilities

• Compounds and/or prepares medications including sterile products, oral, topical, and controlled substances under the supervision of a licensed Pharmacist.
• Delivers exchanged medications to the respective patient area and returns unused medications to the pharmacy.
• Documents pharmaceutical activities including patient billing for medications and equipment, ensuring accuracy of data.
• Responds to and triages requests from customers for assistance with pharmacy services such as medication delivery and drug information.
• Operates and supports automated dispensing technology to supply correct medications for individual patients according to pharmacist and physician orders.
• Orders, receives, restocks, and rotates inventory, completing expiration date management.
• Assists with training of new employees in job-specific functions.
• Contributes to process improvement projects.
• Completes regulatory compliance inspections of medication storage areas and controlled substance inventories.

Requirements

• Registration with the NC Board of Pharmacy unless enrolled in a PharmD program.
• CPhT from PTCB or ExCPT from NHA unless enrolled in a PharmD program.
• Prior pharmacy technician experience is preferred.

Nice-to-haves

• Completion of an academic pharmacy technician training program preferred.
