About the position

The Certified Technician provides support to the pharmacist by reviewing, compounding, and dispensing medications. All work is carried out under the supervision of a licensed Pharmacist. This position is essential in ensuring that medications are prepared accurately and safely, adhering to the highest standards of pharmacy practice. The role requires a strong understanding of pharmaceutical compounding, particularly in the preparation of intravenous (IV) medications, which is critical for patient care. The technician will be responsible for maintaining a clean and sterile environment, ensuring that all equipment is properly sanitized and functioning. This position also qualifies for our Pharmacy Technician Incentive Program, which includes $5000 in commitment incentives spread over a two-year period, with payments made after six months, one year, and two years of employment. Shift differentials are offered for weekday evenings, nights, and weekends, reflecting the commitment to rewarding staff for their flexibility and dedication.

Responsibilities

  • IV Preparation Experience
  • Ability to mix and compound IV medications from a Laminar Flow Hood or Biological Safety Cabinet
  • Comply with and perform best practices as outlined/described in USP
  • Perform pharmaceutics infusion compounding activities
  • Perform sanitation, maintenance and tracking of infusion equipment and the IV room
  • Cleaning and sterilizing equipment, instruments, and cleanroom according to procedures
  • Pass annual proficiency and certification checks: gowning, aseptic technique, labeling, facilities sanitation, equipment cleaning
  • Assist in the setup of the compounding room, equipment, and supplies for the preparation of compounded sterile solutions, using an aseptic technique.

Requirements

  • Registration with the NC Board of Pharmacy unless enrolled in a PharmD program
  • CPhT from PTCB or ExCPT from NHA unless enrolled in a PharmD program
  • Completion of an academic pharmacy technician training program preferred
  • Prior pharmacy technician experience is preferred.
