About the position

Virginia Mason Franciscan Health is seeking an Inpatient Pharmacy Technician to join our team in Tacoma, Washington. This role is integral to the daily operations of our pharmacy, ensuring that medications are distributed accurately and in compliance with state and federal laws, as well as our internal policies and procedures. The Inpatient Pharmacy Technician will work under the supervision of a pharmacist and will be responsible for a variety of tasks that support the workflow of the pharmacy. This includes preparing and dispensing prescribed medications, compounding medications, managing inventory, and performing clerical and administrative tasks. The technician will also be accountable for maintaining a clean and safe environment, using appropriate aseptic techniques, and handling controlled substances appropriately. Regular attendance at staff meetings and completion of educational modules are also required to stay updated on departmental changes and compliance with The Joint Commission requirements. In this role, you will be expected to prepare, distribute, and deliver medications in accordance with established policies and procedures. You will also perform clerical and administrative tasks that support the day-to-day operations of the pharmacy department. Maintaining proper medication and supply stock levels is crucial, as is the operation and maintenance of automated medication delivery systems and devices. Participation in department quality assurance programs and maintaining appropriate documentation is also a key responsibility. Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited Pharmacy Technician training program.
  • One year of hospital work experience or hospital rotation within an accredited training program that demonstrates attainment of the requisite job knowledge skills/abilities.
  • Current license as a Pharmacy Technician by the Washington State Board of Pharmacy.
  • Possession of a current Washington State Driver's license required only for those staff with an 'off site refill' assignment.
