About the position

The Pharmacy Technician plays a crucial role in supporting the daily operations of the pharmacy by ensuring the appropriate distribution of medications while adhering to state and federal regulations. This position involves preparing and dispensing medications, managing inventory, and performing clerical tasks under the supervision of a pharmacist. The technician is also responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment and staying updated on departmental policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Preparing and dispensing prescribed medications for patients under the supervision of a pharmacist.
• Performing compounding of medications as required.
• Assisting in managing inventory of medications.
• Performing charging and crediting functions for medications associated with drug distribution processes.
• Completing routine clerical and administrative tasks to support pharmacy operations.
• Maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
• Using appropriate aseptic techniques when handling medications.
• Handling controlled substances in compliance with regulations.
• Completing all required educational modules and attending regular staff meetings.
• Keeping abreast of departmental changes and current policies.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited Pharmacy Technician training program.
• One year of hospital work experience or hospital rotation within an accredited training program preferred.
• Current license as a Pharmacy Technician by the Washington State Board of Pharmacy.
• Possession of a current Washington State Driver's license required for staff with an 'off site refill' assignment.
