About the position

As an Inpatient Pharmacy Technician at St. Francis Hospital, you will play a crucial role in supporting the daily operations of the pharmacy department. This position is part of a larger health system, Virginia Mason Franciscan Health, which is dedicated to providing high-quality patient care and exceptional experiences. You will be responsible for the appropriate distribution of medications, ensuring compliance with state and federal laws, as well as adhering to the policies and procedures of the facility. Your work will directly impact patient care, as you prepare and dispense prescribed medications, perform compounding tasks, and assist in managing inventory. You will also be involved in routine clerical and administrative tasks that are essential for the smooth operation of the pharmacy. In this role, you will be expected to maintain a clean and safe environment, utilize appropriate aseptic techniques, and handle controlled substances with care. You will be accountable for completing all educational modules and attending regular staff meetings to stay updated on departmental changes and current policies. Your contributions will help ensure that patients receive their medications safely and efficiently, and you will be part of a team that is committed to improving the health and well-being of the community.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing and dispensing prescribed medications for patients
  • Performing compounding of medications
  • Assisting in managing inventory
  • Performing charging and crediting functions for medications associated with drug distribution processes
  • Performing routine clerical/administrative tasks
  • Maintaining a clean and safe environment
  • Using appropriate aseptic technique
  • Handling controlled substances appropriately
  • Completing all educational modules
  • Attending regular staff meetings
  • Keeping abreast of departmental changes/current FHS policy and procedures and The Joint Commission requirements

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited Pharmacy Technician training program
  • One year of hospital work experience or hospital rotation within an accredited training program
  • Current license as a Pharmacy Technician by the Washington State Board of Pharmacy
  • Possession of a current Washington State Driver's license (required only for those with an 'off site refill' assignment)
