About the position

Froedtert South is seeking to hire Inpatient Registered Nurses for our location in Pleasant Prairie/Kenosha, WI area. This position involves coordinating and administering medical and nursing care to patients utilizing the nursing process, which includes assessing the patient's physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs, planning and developing an individualized nursing care plan, implementing the patient's care plan, and evaluating the patient's response to that care. The role requires compliance with all established standards and practices, demonstrating competency with specific clinical skills and techniques as listed in the department/unit skills list. Nurses will function within the Wisconsin Nurse Practices Act and hospital/nursing policy, ensuring that they provide high-quality care to patients. In this role, you will demonstrate communication and leadership skills by collaborating with and directing members of the healthcare team to achieve positive patient outcomes within established timeframes. Responsibilities include administering medications, IVs, and treatments in a timely and safe manner, coordinating patient teaching, and maintaining a clean and organized environment to promote rest and healing. You will also be expected to recognize life-threatening situations and emergencies, taking appropriate actions promptly. Additionally, participation in the implementation and monitoring of unit-based Quality Assurance standards of care is essential, along with assisting in the orientation and training of new staff and nursing student clinical rotations as requested. Froedtert South offers a smaller community hospital environment with a wide variety of options and unique services not found at other local hospitals. The position includes 12-hour shifts, with a weekend program available for candidates who prefer to work strictly weekends, receiving a 15% differential of their base pay. Full-time and part-time opportunities are available across all departments.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and administers medical and nursing care to patients utilizing the nursing process.
  • Assesses the patient's physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs.
  • Plans and develops an individualized plan of nursing care.
  • Implements the patient's care plan and evaluates the patient's response to that care.
  • Complies with all established standards and practices.
  • Demonstrates competency with specific clinical skills and techniques.
  • Functions within the Wisconsin Nurse Practices Act and hospital/nursing policy.
  • Demonstrates communication and leadership skills by collaborating with and giving direction to members of the healthcare team.
  • Administers medications, IVs, and treatments in a timely manner, safely and in accordance with policy and procedure.
  • Coordinates patient teaching and demonstrates correct and safe techniques in the use of patient equipment.
  • Maintains and organizes patient rooms and department work areas in a neat, clean, and well-supplied manner.
  • Organizes and completes nursing care activities within the assigned shift in a professional manner.
  • Promptly and courteously responds to any patient call light.
  • Recognizes the occurrence of life-threatening situations and emergencies and takes appropriate actions in a timely manner.
  • Actively participates in the implementation and monitoring of unit-based Quality Assurance standards of care.
  • Assists in the orientation and training of new staff and nursing student clinical rotations as requested.

Requirements

  • Minimum of an Associate Degree in Nursing.
  • Current BLS and/or CPR certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross or the ability to obtain certification within 6 weeks of hire.
  • Licensure to be eligible to practice as a Registered Nurse or Graduate Nurse in the State of Wisconsin and/or the State of Illinois based on job location assignment.
  • The ability to read, write, speak, hear, and comprehend the English language.
  • The physical, technical, and cognitive ability as well as the manual dexterity to use patient care equipment.
