About the position

As an Inside Account Manager for Federal Sales at Connection, you will play a crucial role in supporting the IT needs of Federal Agencies and the US Military. This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about technology and customer service, and who thrive in a dynamic sales environment. You will be responsible for managing a specified set of accounts within the Department of Defense (DOD) and civilian Federal agencies, where you will forge relationships and uncover opportunities to grow and maintain your book of business. Your day-to-day activities will include cold calling and prospecting customers, meeting or exceeding daily call and talk time targets, and presenting key selling points, features, and benefits of technology products and services while focusing on the customer's needs and expectations. In this role, you will provide superior customer service during the order fulfillment process, engage internal and external resources to develop IT solutions, and listen attentively to customers to address their needs and concerns. You will also be responsible for preparing quotes and RFPs, negotiating with customers, and overcoming objections to close sales. The Inside Account Manager will act as a support resource for day-to-day transactions, allowing the Account Manager the time and opportunity to expand their business. This position requires a proactive approach to follow up on open orders and customer service issues, ensuring resolution and customer satisfaction. Responsibilities

  • Cold call and prospect customers within a specified set of accounts within Department of Defense (DOD) and civilian Federal agencies.
  • Meet or exceed daily call and talk time targets with customers.
  • Present key selling points, features, and benefits of technology products and services while focusing on the customer's needs and expectations.
  • Provide superior customer service to customers during the order fulfillment process.
  • Engage internal and external resources, including technology partners, to develop IT solutions to meet customer needs.
  • Listen attentively and respond effectively to customers to meet their needs and address concerns.
  • Engage appropriate company resources to provide appropriate pricing for customers while maintaining maximum profit margin and ensure accuracy of information based on proposed solution.
  • Demonstrate skillful negotiation with customers and key stakeholders across organizations.
  • Successfully overcome customer's objections and close sales.
  • Attend internal and external training to keep apprised of the most up-to-date and state-of-the-art technology solutions.
  • Act as a support resource for day-to-day transactions to allow the Account Manager the time and opportunity to expand their business.
  • Minimize problem order situations by proactively following up on open orders and customer service issues for resolution.
  • Prepare quotes and RFPs.
  • Independently plan and organize your daily work schedule and activities.

Requirements

  • Associate degree required, Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Technology preferred.
  • Prior sales experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong ability to build relationships and foster account growth.
  • Must be able to work independently to develop sales opportunities.
  • A strong drive to succeed.
  • Ability to proactively find business opportunities within existing customer base.
