About the position

The Inside Mortgage Loan Originator at MIDFLORIDA Credit Union is responsible for generating first mortgage real estate loans, reviewing pre-qualifications, and processing referrals and online applications. This role emphasizes excellent customer service, compliance with regulations, and a commitment to the financial well-being of members. Responsibilities

  • Generate first mortgage real estate loans from the MIDFLORIDA field of membership.
  • Review pre-qualifications to determine appropriate programs and products for clients.
  • Issue prequalification letters and appropriate disclosures.
  • Process referrals and online applications.
  • Review credit reports and lock in loans with the secondary market (if applicable).
  • Audit files for complete information and compliance with secondary market guidelines.
  • Provide good faith estimates, truth-in-lending, and other appropriate disclosures to borrowers within 3 business days of application.
  • Maintain a neat and professional personal appearance in accordance with credit union professional image standards.
  • Exercise sound judgment and discretion while remaining compliant with well-defined limits and guidelines.
  • Exhibit a high degree of integrity, trustworthiness, and professionalism.
  • Develop a strong understanding of customer-facing technology and enroll members in self-service options.
  • Support assigned branches and members in all mortgage lending needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 3 years of government (FHA/VA/USDA) and conventional loan origination experience.
  • Excellent customer service skills along with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of the real estate market and thorough understanding of Federal and State mortgage regulations.
  • Experience with loan underwriting and secondary market guidelines.
  • Proficient in the use of computers, the internet, and Microsoft Office.
  • Eligibility to meet the requirements of the SAFE Act to be registered as an MLO with NMLS.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree in a business-related field preferred.
