About the position

The Inside Sales Application Engineer at Cogent, Inc. is responsible for providing technical assistance and support to the sales team, ensuring customer requirements are met through consultative selling and effective communication. This role involves preparing quotations, analyzing customer needs, and collaborating with vendors to source product quotes, all while contributing to the company's mission of delivering innovative fluid processing solutions.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with the sales team to determine strategic approaches for sales and provide technical assistance.
• Perform specification review, interpretations, and quotation preparation.
• Compile submittal documentation for bid approval and conduct final review on approved submittals.
• Source product quotes from vendors.
• Analyze customers' requirements and engage in consultative selling with clients.
• Provide timely and accurate responses to customer inquiries.
• Complete work order forms for order entry and invoicing.
• Handle cancellations or changes in sales orders and communicate changes to appropriate personnel.
• Review purchase orders to ensure the customer's technical needs are met.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in engineering or a science-related field preferred.
• Previous experience in inside sales and technical support.
• Good understanding of pumping equipment and applications.
• Knowledge of administrative processes, policies, and procedures related to a sales department.
• Proficiency in MS Office, including Word and Excel.
• Ability to read and interpret dimensional drawings; CAD drawing experience is highly desirable.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and customer service skills.
• Strong time management and multitasking abilities.
• Highly energetic and self-starter with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with engineered solutions preferred.
• Experience in the pump and pump processing industry highly desired.
