About the position

The Inside Sales/Application Engineer role at Volt involves leveraging expertise in electrical distribution to support contractors and industrial clients. This position focuses on sales and lead management, ensuring compliance with UL standards, and enhancing customer experience through efficient order management and process improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a knowledgeable resource for customers, recommending and supporting solutions that align with UL standards (UL508A, UL67, UL891).
  • Prepare submittal packages, collecting and verifying all necessary documentation and specifications from clients and vendors.
  • Accurately enter orders in the company ERP system, managing timelines, status updates, and essential documentation.
  • Evaluate current sales, quoting, CRM, and order entry processes to identify opportunities for increased efficiency and improved customer experience.
  • Work with internal teams to develop and implement workflow improvements, optimizing response times and sales operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field preferred; relevant experience also considered.
  • At least 3 years of experience in inside sales or applications engineering in the electrical distribution industry, particularly with panelboards, switchboards, transformers, conduit, cable, and fittings.
  • Proficiency with CRM and ERP software for managing sales cycles, order entry, and process tracking.
  • Strong organizational skills, with attention to detail in project documentation and order management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for fostering strong customer relationships.

Nice-to-haves

  • In-depth knowledge of UL508A, UL67, and UL891 standards and applications in electrical distribution.
  • Familiarity with industry regulations, codes, and standards for electrical distribution products.
  • Experience with process improvement initiatives in technical sales environments.
