About the position

Commvault is seeking a talented Inside Sales Engineer to join our team in Fort Lauderdale, FL. This role is pivotal in providing pre-sales technical support for both Commvault and partner sales teams. The Inside Sales Engineer will engage in various activities including customer and partner conference calls, conducting demonstrations, and creating designs tailored to customer needs. The position requires a proactive approach to assist with licensing, remote proof of concept (POC) support, and responding to requests for information (RFI) and proposals (RFP). Additionally, the role involves contributing to the development of automation and enablement tools, as well as creating technical training materials and documentation. As part of a virtual systems engineering support team, the Inside Sales Engineer will work collaboratively to accelerate opportunities through the technical validation cycle. This includes architecting solutions based on Commvault's offerings to address technical, business, operational, and financial challenges faced by customers. The role also involves proposing and demonstrating the Commvault suite of products through various means such as remote demos, presentations, and whiteboarding sessions. Education of inside sales and partner sales teams on IT concepts related to data management and storage is also a key responsibility. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in systems administration or pre-sales, with a focus on data protection and storage solutions. They will be expected to develop expertise in complementary technologies and maintain a broad understanding of Commvault's core products. The Inside Sales Engineer will collaborate with internal departments to ensure successful sales campaigns and a positive customer experience, while also assisting in the development of toolkits and systems to enhance knowledge transfer and efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Provide pre-sales technical support for Commvault and partner sales teams.
  • Conduct customer and partner conference calls, demonstrations, and presentations.
  • Create designs and assist with licensing and remote POC support.
  • Support RFI/RFP processes and assist with automation and enablement tool development.
  • Develop technical training materials and documentation.
  • Work as part of a virtual systems engineering support team to accelerate opportunities through the technical validation cycle.
  • Architect solutions using Commvault products to solve technical, business, operational, and financial issues.
  • Propose and demonstrate Commvault products through remote demos and presentations.
  • Educate inside sales and partner sales teams on IT concepts related to data management and storage.
  • Ensure customer sales, environment, and contact data is captured in internal systems and databases.
  • Develop expertise in complementary technologies such as virtualization and storage infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to ensure success during sales campaigns.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent.
  • 4+ years of experience in systems administration, pre-sales, or related field.
  • Experience with Commvault or competitive data management software is preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in data protection, archiving, networking, storage, and systems administration.
  • Ability to articulate Commvault features and business value proposition to stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of complementary and competitive technologies such as VMware, NetApp, and Symantec.
  • In-depth knowledge of Windows, Linux, and/or UNIX operating systems, virtualization technologies, SQL, Exchange, and Oracle database.
  • Ability to work remotely as a contributing member of a team.
  • Strong communication skills for remote engagements.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with competitive data management software offerings such as Symantec and EMC BURA.
