About the position

In this role, you will directly supervise and maintain high performance within a team of Account Managers who are responsible for processing sales orders and managing order fulfillment for their customers. You will serve as a liaison between your customers and internal departments, ensuring that missing information is obtained, demand changes are updated, and internal issues affecting delivery schedules are addressed and communicated effectively. Your personal responsibilities will include processing RFQs and developing quotes, taking into account cost data from Engineering and other relevant factors to ensure that target margins are achieved. Additionally, you will track site KPIs and produce weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports for sales and business unit managers. You will also participate in managing NPI timelines in coordination with Engineering to ensure on-time new product introduction. Maintaining a positive customer relationship is crucial in this role, which includes developing a deep understanding of the customers' needs and serving as the escalation point for resolving commercial and relationship issues with customers, such as quality, delivery, accounts receivable, and billing. You will positively influence and collaborate with internal departments as needed to meet customer expectations. Furthermore, you will be responsible for developing the Sales Plans for the division based on customer demand. Successful individuals in this role will possess a combination of technical acumen, organizational skills, and strong interpersonal abilities to effectively manage their team and meet customer needs.

Responsibilities

  • Directly supervise and maintain high performance within a team of Account Managers.
  • Process sales orders and manage order fulfillment for customers.
  • Serve as a liaison between customers and internal departments, ensuring missing information is obtained and demand changes are updated.
  • Process RFQs and develop quotes, ensuring target margins are achieved.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in sales roles for manufacturers of highly engineered products for aerospace, defense, or other regulated markets.
  • Previous experience directly supervising and leading others is required.
  • Previous experience selling aerospace forgings or other metallic products for the aerospace industry is preferred.
  • Ability to motivate and hold a team accountable for high performance.
  • Understanding of technical issues impacting product delivery and ability to discuss them with customers and internal resources.
  • Ability to establish cadence, multi-task, and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Mindset of personal accountability and initiative to see what needs to be done and do it.
  • Ability to negotiate resolutions to complex customer issues.
  • Ability to positively influence internal resources to solve customer problems.
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Intermediate math capabilities to accurately calculate mark-ups, margins, and variances.
  • Experience using an ERP/MRP system to understand order status relative to commit date and identify issues causing delays.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS Office, particularly strong Excel and PowerPoint skills.
