About the position

The Inside Sales Manager is responsible for overseeing the inside sales activities of the organization, ensuring that the sales team meets its goals and objectives. This role involves developing and implementing strategic sales plans that align with customer requirements and market trends. The Inside Sales Manager will direct sales forecasting activities, set performance goals, and provide essential data and sales forecasts to assist in production scheduling and material requirements. Additionally, the manager will assist the sales team in conducting market analyses to determine customer needs, pricing schedules, and discount rates. In this position, the Inside Sales Manager will also be responsible for staffing, training, and evaluating the performance of inside sales personnel. This includes leading the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the sales team, as well as carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. The manager will interview, hire, and train employees, plan and assign work, and address performance issues, complaints, and problems as they arise. The role requires a strong analytical mindset to analyze and control departmental expenditures to conform to budgetary requirements. The Inside Sales Manager will also assist other departments in preparing or distributing manuals, product brochures, and technical publications, and will prepare periodic sales reports that show sales volume, potential sales, and areas for client base expansion. Overall, this position plays a critical role in driving sales performance and ensuring customer satisfaction within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Developing and implementing strategic sales plans to address customer requirements
  • Directing sales forecasting activities and setting performance goals accordingly
  • Providing data and sales forecasts for production scheduling and material requirements
  • Assisting Sales in reviewing or performing market analyses to determine customer needs, price schedules, and discount rates
  • Directing staffing, training, and performance evaluations to develop and improve the inside sales function
  • Providing sales statistics to assist sales managers and sales staff in formulating policy to promote sales
  • Analyzing and controlling expenditures of the department to conform to budgetary requirements
  • Assisting other departments in preparing or distributing manuals, product brochures, and technical publications
  • Preparing periodic sales reports showing sales volume, potential sales, and areas of proposed client base expansion
  • Managing and directing inside sales personnel; leading overall direction, coordination, and evaluation
  • Interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work
  • Appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or four to ten years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations with limited standardization
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
