About the position

The Inside Sales Representative at Wisconsin Building Supply plays a crucial role in assisting both new and existing customers with their sales needs. This position focuses on providing product support to outside sales representatives, generating sales through customer interactions, and managing various sales-related tasks to ensure customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to customer inquiries regarding product selection, order placement, prices, quotations, complaints, and scheduling of deliveries and installations.
  • Initiate telephone calls to customers to generate sales.
  • Obtain orders from customers and sales representatives; enter work orders, credit returns, return authorizations, pick tickets, and service requests; file paperwork accordingly.
  • Coordinate purchase and delivery of special products.
  • Obtain information on pricing specifications, uses, and availability.
  • Manage schedules for projects by coordinating with outside sales, jobsites, and assigned customers.
  • Maintain stock levels on the sales floor and in the stockroom.
  • Research credits, returns, and late payments as needed.
  • Check on back orders and resolve any outstanding issues; solve billing problems and compile data for closing.
  • Handle special orders and advanced pricing; assist with pricing and special price lists.
  • Develop and grow professional relationships with customers.
  • Resolve jobsite issues and customer problems.
  • Comply with the Company's attendance policy by maintaining regular and predictable attendance.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 1-3 years of experience in the building material industry with basic knowledge of product and application required.
  • 1-3 years of inside sales experience preferred.
  • Ability to operate computer, calculator, and cash register.
  • Knowledge of building supplies, applications, related equipment, and/or construction industry.
  • Good interpersonal and customer relations skills and excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with inventory and inventory control.
  • Must be able to walk throughout yards, plants, and offices.
