About the position

The Sales Associate at QED is responsible for establishing and improving relationships with customers to understand their needs and sales territory. This role involves direct communication with customers to receive orders, provide product information, and ensure timely delivery of merchandise. The Sales Associate acts as a liaison between customers and various departments within the company, ensuring a smooth sales process and addressing any customer concerns effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Communicates with customers by phone or in person to receive orders for products.
  • Solicits sale of new or additional products.
  • Practices good interpersonal relations, using tact, courtesy, and a positive attitude toward customers and co-workers.
  • Acts as a liaison between the customer and QED departments, including credit purchasing, warehouse, outside sales, and management.
  • Determines make, type, and quality of merchandise desired by being familiar with products sold in the department.
  • Identifies and uses appropriate company and/or customer pricing systems.
  • Makes phone calls to regular and prospective customers to solicit orders.
  • Describes or demonstrates product, using samples or catalog, and emphasizes salable features.
  • Compiles lists of prospective customers for use as sales leads.
  • Provides oral and written quotations or estimates of prices, terms, and delivery for merchandise.
  • Prepares cash or charge sales tickets with required identification and necessary information for processing, shipment, and delivery.
  • Estimates date of delivery to customer based on knowledge of delivery schedules.
  • Purchases materials following approved purchasing procedures.
  • Reviews complaints concerning billing or products sold, referring complaints to designated departments for resolution.
  • Prepares correspondence and reports necessary for business transactions.
  • Recognizes when special pricing is required and provides competitive pricing.
  • Follows up on all quotations to write orders or receive input for future quotations.
  • Handles difficulties with customers with diplomacy and seeks assistance when needed.

Requirements

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to build and maintain customer relationships.
  • Familiarity with product knowledge and sales techniques.
  • Proficient in using computer systems for order processing and record-keeping.
  • Ability to handle customer complaints and resolve issues effectively.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in sales or customer service roles.
