About the position

As an Associate Technical Project Manager at Insomniac, you will play a crucial role in planning and executing engineering initiatives that align with the company's strategic goals. This position requires a highly motivated self-starter who is not only passionate about dance culture but also possesses a strong background in developing web-based products. You will be responsible for initiating, leading, and monitoring the development and production of technical features on our mobile and web applications. Your ability to adapt to each individual project is paramount to your success in this role. In this position, you will assign and oversee the daily tasks of the engineering team, ensuring that team members are working towards established timelines and milestones. Effective communication with various departments is essential, as you will be collecting requirements for projects and defining clear requirements for the engineering team. You will facilitate technical discussions and communication between onsite and offshore development team members, preparing Project Requirement Documents (PRDs) for new or major projects, and writing user stories to explain the objectives and purposes of each project for the development team. Additionally, you will support recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and training various team members, and you will be involved in various projects as needed. This role is located in Calabasas, CA, with the possibility of a hybrid work schedule, but it is not a fully remote position. You must be able to tolerate loud noise levels and busy environments, and be willing to work in drastic temperature climates when onsite at events. Travel may be required during evening and weekend hours to meet project deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Initiate, lead and monitor the development and production of technical features on our mobile and/or web applications
  • Assign and oversee the daily tasks of the engineering team ensuring team members are working towards established timelines and milestones
  • Effectively communicate with various departments to collect requirements for projects
  • Define and deliver clear requirements to engineering team members allowing them to develop effectively
  • Facilitate technical discussions and communication between onsite and offshore development team members
  • Prepare PRDs (Project Requirement Documents) for new or major projects writing up user stories, explain the object/purpose of each project for the dev team
  • Support recruiting, hiring, onboarding and training various team members
  • Various projects as needed

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years work experience using Agile methodologies - Scrum, Kanban
  • Must have experience with an Agile based task management tool like JIRA or Asana
  • Excellent communication skills. Ability to be a liaison between technical and non-technical team members and stakeholders
  • Must have Project Management Skills - Scope management, cost management, quality management, communication management, and stakeholder management
  • Experience working with offshore development teams a plus
  • Must be flexible and willing to work off hours to facilitate projects with our offshore team
  • Ability to predict challenges and seek to proactively solve them
  • Must be able to work in a fast paced environment juggling multiple projects simultaneously
