About the position

The Inspector-Floor or Hot Forge position at Shultz Steel involves inspecting hot forged steel products to ensure they meet specified dimensions and quality standards. The role is critical in maintaining the integrity of forged components used in aerospace and industrial applications, requiring attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Check with forge department production schedule to determine which forging operation requires hot inspection.
• Review forge drawings to determine required dimensions and mismatch allowance.
• Inspect parts and check required dimensions against blueprint requirements using measuring devices.
• Notify the forge leadman and/or blacksmith of any problems and discrepancies in dimensions and surface conditions.
• Complete Daily Production Reports to report time against jobs.
• Work with forge crews to ensure dimensional requirements are met.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to perform essential duties satisfactorily and follow safety practices.
