The Inspector II, Asset Protection position at Liberty involves serving as a Subject Matter Expert (SME), inspector, and liaison for the protection and assurance of the assets and infrastructure of the natural gas system. This role is critical in ensuring the safety and compliance of operations related to the natural gas distribution network. The inspector will be responsible for conducting damage investigations, coordinating large projects, and serving as an on-site company inspector whenever third parties are excavating near critical company-owned facilities. Quality assurance and quality control are paramount, and the inspector may perform routine mark-outs as necessary. In addition to these responsibilities, the inspector will be tasked with training Utility Technicians to perform mark-outs and will oversee the work of third-party excavators, ensuring adherence to company procedures regarding safe operations near gas facilities. Accurate marking of gas company facilities before and during construction is essential, as is compliance with Georgia Dig Laws and Regulations for pre-marking company excavations. The inspector will also conduct leak surveys and monitor encroachments in conjunction with third-party excavation, as well as perform pre- and post-blasting surveys when necessary. Timely and accurate documentation of all field activities is a key responsibility, along with assisting operations supervisors in the follow-up and inspection of potential encroachments. The inspector will also serve as a technical resource for junior department personnel and lead investigations into reported incidents, documenting findings in incident investigation reports.
