As a Field Service Engineer II at Applied Materials, you will play a crucial role in the installation and maintenance of cutting-edge customer equipment. This position requires you to work both in our state-of-the-art facility and at customer sites globally, making you the face of Applied Materials. You will be part of a vibrant and diverse team, dedicated to troubleshooting hardware, solving complex problems, and enhancing equipment performance. Your responsibilities will include assisting with the installation of equipment, performing scheduled preventative maintenance, and executing corrective maintenance and upgrades. You will follow established procedures and published task plans to test equipment, diagnose issues, and resolve technical problems effectively. In this role, you will also be responsible for completing necessary job documentation, safety training, and procedures for processing parts. Your professionalism will be key as you represent Applied Materials to customers, ensuring a customer-first mindset in all interactions. You will need to satisfy both the company's and the customer's on-site requirements, including adherence to safety, environmental, and COVID-19 guidelines. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to train junior engineers on site-related safety and troubleshooting procedures, fostering a culture of excellence and customer service. This position requires a strong technical background, with an associate degree in electronics or engineering technologies, or equivalent work experience, including military technical training. You should possess the ability to read electrical and mechanical schematics, along with clear and effective communication skills for documenting details. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and advanced mechanical aptitude, including knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum, and thermodynamics, is essential. A strong understanding of hand tools and their proper usage, including a digital multimeter, is also required. Expect to travel extensively, approximately 70% to 90% of the time, both domestically and internationally, and work in shifts to provide ongoing customer support. The role demands physical capabilities, including lifting at least 35 lbs and working in a clean room environment while adhering to safety protocols. A valid driver's license and passport are necessary for this position.
