About the position

As a Field Service Engineer on the Install Team at Applied Materials, you will play a crucial role in troubleshooting hardware, solving complex problems, and enhancing the performance of cutting-edge equipment. This position requires you to work both in our state-of-the-art facility and at customer sites around the globe, making you the face of Applied Materials and an integral part of a vibrant and diverse team. You will be responsible for assisting with the installation of advanced customer equipment, performing scheduled preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, and upgrading equipment as necessary. Your role will involve following established procedures learned during training, as well as published task plans, to test equipment and diagnose technical issues effectively. In addition to technical responsibilities, you will be expected to complete required job documentation, safety training, and procedures for processing parts. Representing Applied Materials professionally to customers is paramount, and you will need to adopt a “customer first” mindset to satisfy both the company's and customer's on-site requirements, including adherence to safety, environmental, and COVID-19 guidelines. Furthermore, you will have the opportunity to train junior engineers on site-related safety, troubleshooting procedures, and instilling a customer-first approach in their work. This position demands a proactive attitude and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, often requiring travel about 70% to 90% of the time, both domestically and internationally. You will work on rotation and in shifts to ensure ongoing support for our customers. The role also requires physical capabilities, including lifting at least 35 lbs and working in a clean room environment while adhering to safety protocols. A valid driver's license and passport are necessary for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with installing leading-edge customer equipment.
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and corrective maintenance.

Requirements

  • An associate degree in electronics or engineering technologies, equivalent work experience, or completion of military technical training and field experience.
  • Ability to read electrical and mechanical schematics.
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills, with an emphasis on documenting details.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
  • Advanced mechanical aptitude and knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum, and/or thermodynamics.
  • Strong knowledge of hand tools and proper usage, including a digital multimeter.

Nice-to-haves
