About the position

As an Installation Engineer II in Field Service at Thermo Fisher Scientific, you will play a crucial role in installing high-end electron microscopes at customer locations. This position involves extensive travel, both regionally and internationally, to ensure flawless installation and provide exceptional support to customers. You will undergo a comprehensive training program that combines formal instruction and hands-on experience, preparing you for a successful career in field service.

Responsibilities

  • Install electron microscopes at customer locations in North America.
  • Support the preparation steps of upcoming assignments.
  • Execute the installation and setup of sold equipment from move-in to customer acceptance.
  • Work with 3rd party contractors to ensure smooth installation progress.
  • Provide customers with the best possible installation experience through clear communication and technical skills.
  • Collaborate with customers to determine their specific needs and requirements.
  • Cultivate and develop positive working relationships with colleagues and customers to assure the highest level of customer experience.
  • Offer and seek technical assistance and guidance throughout the installation and operation process.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by delivering exceptional service and resolving any issues.
  • Timely and accurately record activities and document work according to standard operating procedures.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of proven experience in installing high-end equipment or a related field (Electron Microscope and/or vacuum knowledge is highly preferred).
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in mechatronics, mechanical/electrical/electronic, or any equivalent engineering major preferred. High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Willingness to learn and fast-track your installation career.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Eager and quick learner with an enthusiastic and hands-on mentality.
  • Highly motivated to achieve set goals and take on challenges.
  • Able to obtain a valid passport and travel frequently as required (up to 80%).
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • IT skills in Microsoft Windows and Office environments.
  • Good English language skills in speaking and writing.
