About the position

The Installation Technician III at AVI-SPL is responsible for performing installation tasks for contracted projects, including cable pulls, terminations, and system equipment setup. This role involves leading installation crews on complex projects, ensuring adherence to project timelines, budgets, and quality standards while maintaining customer satisfaction. The technician will also mentor junior technicians and act as a liaison between the customer and project management.

Responsibilities

  • Perform installation tasks based on project scope and directives
  • Demonstrate job site leadership and mentor Level 1 and Level 2 Technicians
  • Read and interpret electronic schematics and architectural blueprints
  • Use hand and power tools for various AV system tasks
  • Test point-to-point cabling and system functionality
  • Support engineers or programmers with minor programming changes
  • Track and manage equipment and tools on job site
  • Initiate return material authorizations with office staff
  • Support Project Manager with site supervision and job documentation
  • Act as customer liaison on site and manage change requests
  • Communicate and coordinate with other trades on site
  • Perform client training as needed
  • Travel to various job sites as required

Requirements

  • Valid and current AVIXA CTS General Certification
  • Valid Driver's License with acceptable Motor Vehicle Record
  • Minimum of 4 - 6 years in audiovisual, electronics, or related industry installation experience
  • Ability to effectively communicate with employees, customers, and colleagues
  • Ability to use hand and power tools safely and efficiently
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Basic computer knowledge
  • Knowledge of complex wiring configurations and signal flow for audio, video, control, and network
  • Ability to lead site teams on medium to large projects
  • Minor control system programming changes and troubleshooting capabilities
  • Knowledge of industry installation safety codes and standards

Nice-to-haves

  • Formal education in Audio Visual, Electronics, or related field
  • CDL preferred
  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Industry-specific and manufacturer training/certifications
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Course
  • Confirmed Project Site Lead Role experience
  • Ability to obtain formal approved clearances
