Responsibilities

  • Work both inside and outside the home to install and ensure customer satisfaction with broadband integrated digital TV, high speed Internet, and voice services.
  • Connect fiber optic jumpers and drops (AERIAL, BURIED AND PLENUM).
  • Run temporary fiber drop safely for public.
  • Splice fiber drop connectors and install ONT and power supplies.
  • Run or reuse COAX or CAT5 wiring as needed.
  • Bury CAT5/COAX up to 50 ft. as required.
  • Verify service for installations.
  • Install Internet hubs and routers, utilizing MOCA technology as needed.
  • Configure customer-owned computers and educate customers about Internet access.
  • Run COAX cable to TV Boxes and CAT5E cable from routers to network interface modules for video service installations.
  • Take DB loss readings at splitter points and terminated ends, initialize set up box for activation on fiber network, and program remote controls.

Requirements

  • Valid state driver's license and non-negligent driving record.
  • Meet safety restriction weight limit of 275 lbs.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 100 lbs.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as required.
  • Pass a pre-employment background check and drug/alcohol screen.
  • Ability to visually perceive differences in wire and cable colors.
  • Complete on-the-job and/or classroom training to remain competitive in telecommunications.
  • Be "on call" and "on standby" as needed.

Nice-to-haves

  • Demonstrate knowledge of computer operating systems (i.e., MS 98SE, 2000, XP and above).
  • Experience cabling various electronic components (e.g., modems, routers, TVs, stereo systems, and home entertainment systems).
  • Knowledge of basic electricity as it relates to telecommunications, including principles, theories, and applications of electricity.
  • Working knowledge of hand and power tools.
  • Ability to work well with others and independently in the field.
