About the position

The Installer I position at Shur-Co. involves operating sewing machines and performing various tasks related to the production and installation of products on trucks and trailers. The role requires attention to detail in fabric handling, quality inspection, and the ability to follow specifications for assembly and shipping. The position is entry-level and focuses on both production and installation duties, ensuring that products meet quality standards before shipment.

Responsibilities

• Operate sewing machine to join, gather, hem, reinforce, or decorate articles.
• Lay out, fit, and heat weld fabric pieces together.
• Manually measure and cut fabric on the floor.
• Visually examine products to detect defects such as mismatched color and size.
• Verify and keep records on incoming and outgoing shipments.
• Process orders for material or merchandise received from customers or employees.
• Package materials and products manually.
• Perform installation duties for products on trucks and trailers.
• Select sewing supplies according to specifications or color of material.
• Complete daily records documenting completed work tasks.
• Gather parts and components for required assemblies as assigned.
• Inspect and package materials and products for shipment.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to operate a sewing machine and perform basic sewing tasks.
• Ability to read and interpret technical instructions and specifications.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with forklift operation and certification.
• Basic knowledge of sewing techniques and fabric types.
