About the position

The Institutional Consulting Analyst at Morgan Stanley plays a crucial role within the Graystone Team, focusing on business development for institutional clients. This position involves creating customized financial plans and asset allocation proposals, designing tailored reporting, and executing marketing strategies to attract new clients. The analyst is responsible for ensuring a positive client experience and timely delivery of commitments, while also handling technical policy matters and performance measurement for advanced accounts.

Responsibilities

  • Synthesize institutional client/prospect data to develop customized financial plans and asset allocation proposals.
  • Design and produce strategy reports and communications for Financial Advisors and Private Wealth Advisors.
  • Provide tailored recommendations to Financial Advisors regarding specific client situations and investment managers.
  • Prepare performance reports for institutional clients, analyzing investment portfolio holdings and generating quarterly performance reports.
  • Develop presentation materials and proposals to assist Financial Advisors in prospecting institutional clients.
  • Engage in dialogue with institutional clients to determine investment objectives and risk tolerance.
  • Develop Statement of Investment Policy for clients in coordination with Financial Advisors.
  • Contribute to client presentations to provide updates and opinions on investment managers.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in a relevant field.
  • Bachelor's degree or professional certification preferred.
  • Active SIE, Series 7, and Series 66 (or 63 and 65) licenses.
  • Proficient in applicable software applications such as PARis, Zypher, and Qvidian.
  • Detail-oriented with superior organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to measure performance of institutional clients' portfolios.

Nice-to-haves

  • Willingness to obtain the CIMA or CFA designation.
  • Knowledge of financial industry and investment products.
  • Knowledge of applicable compliance rules, regulations, and firm policies.
