About the position

The Institutional Giving Specialist at Maple Counseling Center plays a crucial role in securing funding from various institutional donors to support the organization's mission of providing accessible mental health services. This position involves researching, drafting, and submitting grant proposals, maintaining relationships with funders, and preparing reports to demonstrate the impact of funded programs. The role is ideal for someone with a background in non-profit fund development and a passion for mental health services.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough research to identify new grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government agencies.
  • Support the Director of Development & External Affairs in monitoring relevant RFPs and grant announcements.
  • Write, edit, and submit clear and compelling grant proposals and funding requests.
  • Collaborate with program and finance teams to gather information and develop program narratives.
  • Ensure timely submission of proposals that meet funder requirements.
  • Maintain communication with grantors and develop relationships to foster ongoing support.
  • Prepare high-quality narrative and financial reports to funders.
  • Track the status of submitted proposals and maintain accurate records in the donor database.
  • Assist in analyzing program performance and integrating this information into grant proposals and reports.
  • Support the Director in developing fundraising strategies and goals for the organization.
  • Coordinate event logistics and provide support during events.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Non-Profit Management, Social Sciences, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of grant writing experience, preferably in the non-profit or mental health sector.
  • Proven success in securing grants from foundations, corporations, and government sources.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong research and analytical skills for identifying funding opportunities.
  • Ability to develop and interpret budgets and financial information for grant proposals.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with donor database systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of mental health services and a passion for supporting community-based mental health programs.
