About the position

The Riverside University Health System is seeking full-time Institutional Nurses for the Robert Presley Detention Center. This role involves providing professional nursing care to individuals detained in a correctional facility, administering treatments and medications, and assisting physicians in their duties. The position requires a current Registered Nurse license in California and a Basic Life Support certification. Institutional Nurses will work under the direction of a Senior or Supervising Institutional Nurse and are responsible for a range of nursing duties with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Plan and provide professional nursing care to juveniles or adults in a correctional facility, including administration of medication and treatments as ordered by a physician.
• Make routine medical observations and refer patients to a physician as necessary.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of nursing care and collaborate with healthcare providers for appropriate referrals.
• Provide clinical supervision to Licensed Vocational Nurses and Nursing Assistants to ensure quality care.
• Initiate treatment in medical emergencies and conduct quality control audits.

Requirements

• A current and valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of California.
• A current and valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
