About the position

The Institutional Reentry Coordinator plays a vital role within the Missouri Department of Corrections, focusing on facilitating the successful reintegration of individuals from the criminal justice system back into their communities. This position involves coordinating reentry services, engaging with various stakeholders, and overseeing the operations of the Reentry Center to ensure comprehensive support for residents. The role requires a blend of direct supervision, public speaking, and collaboration with state agencies and community organizations to reduce barriers to successful reentry.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a coordinator and guidance provider for reentry services within the institution.
  • Engage with representatives from partnering state agencies, reentry providers, faith-based organizations, and local community stakeholders.
  • Oversee the operations of the Reentry Center in collaboration with the Division of Adult Institutions and Probation and Parole team members.
  • Assist clients with successful reintegration into the community and reduce barriers that hinder success after incarceration.
  • Direct supervision of reentry team members.
  • Public speaking and developing monitoring projects/programs with public and private organizations.
  • Conduct training programs and provide assistance to reentry service providers and agencies.
  • Schedule client services.

Requirements

  • Two or more years of experience as a Corrections Case Manager or Probation and Parole Officer.
  • Six or more years of professional experience in reentry services, corrections case management, adult probation and parole case management, substance use case management, or education, with at least one year in an adult correctional facility.
  • Earned credit hours from an accredited college or university may substitute for up to four years of the required experience.

  • Ability and willingness to support and articulate the important functions and priorities of reentry services.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Skilled in working both independently and as a team member with staff at all levels in the Department.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills including listening skills.
