About the position

The Institutional Research & Analysis Program Manager at Kapi‘olani Community College plays a crucial role in leading strategic planning, institutional research, and accreditation processes. This position is responsible for data analysis and research methodologies to support informed decision-making and enhance institutional effectiveness. The Program Manager collaborates with various stakeholders to drive continuous improvement across academic and non-academic programs, ensuring alignment with the college's strategic goals.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Campus Liaison between University of Hawai‘i Community College (UHCC) system office and UH System on data-related matters.
  • Direct campus efforts on the Community College Survey of Student Engagement (CCSSE).
  • Act as a point of contact with external evaluators.
  • Lead data collection and curation for the College's strategic plan and accreditation processes.
  • Provide direction for the creation of long-range planning documents.
  • Partner with other UH campuses to develop timely and accurate research, focusing on workforce development.
  • Participate in University of Hawaii system working groups to innovate around planning and evaluation.
  • Develop predictive modeling reports for actionable insights for decision-makers.
  • Establish and lead the College's Institutional Research (IR) Committee.
  • Oversee the collection, analysis, and interpretation of institutional research data.
  • Conduct studies on institutional issues to support strategic goals.
  • Assist with the Accreditation self-evaluation process and program reviews.
  • Coordinate and analyze surveys and focus groups, including the Student Feedback Survey.
  • Serve as an in-house consultant for faculty and staff on research design and data interpretation.
  • Collaborate with the Accreditation Liaison Officer to prepare institutional reports.
  • Analyze research questions and provide institutional data for program review.
  • Maintain the College data dashboard and ensure data integrity.
  • Support faculty and deans in documenting assessment and outcomes data.
  • Stay current on national and state research related to community colleges.
  • Establish and maintain the budget for the unit.
  • Conduct regular environmental scans for decision making.
  • Centralize and maintain files related to institutional research.
  • Develop and maintain the IR websites.
  • Create protocols and standard operating procedures with OFIE IR staff.

Requirements

  • Baccalaureate degree in a relevant field (Information Technology, Computer Science, Economics, etc.) and five years of progressively responsible experience in institutional research, including two years in a lead project management role.
  • Considerable knowledge of institutional research principles and practices.
  • Understanding of federal and state laws related to institutional research.
  • Ability to resolve complex problems using creative reasoning and logic.
  • Strong communication skills for diverse audiences, both in writing and verbally.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with various stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in data analysis software and visualization tools.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities in managing projects and employee relations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's in Higher Education Administration or related field.
  • Extensive experience in institutional research and strategic planning in higher education.
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis and data visualization tools.
  • Strong understanding of accreditation standards and processes.
  • Knowledge of SCT Banner and/or Oracle databases.
  • Familiarity with current issues in higher education assessment.
