About the position

The Institutional Research Analyst I position at the University of the Pacific is an entry-level role within the Institutional Research and Decision Support (IRDS) office. This position is crucial for validating, collecting, and analyzing data from various sources to support the university's decision-making processes. The analyst will respond to both internal and external data requests, which include mandated reporting related to federal, state, and accreditation requirements. Internally, the analyst will focus on enrollment trends, student demographic profiles, and student outcomes, providing essential insights to university leadership. In this role, the analyst will utilize SQL or similar programming languages to write queries that create datasets for institutional data analysis. The responsibilities include ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and consistency of data across various datasets and sources. The analyst will implement rigorous validation processes to identify and correct discrepancies, maintaining high data quality standards to ensure reliable data for analysis and reporting. The position also involves creating insightful reports that aid university leaders in making data-driven decisions. The analyst will prepare and submit annual reports to fulfill state, federal, and accreditation requirements, responding to requests from external agencies such as the Common Data Set and U.S. News & World Report. Additionally, the analyst will develop data visualizations and dashboards using PowerBI or similar tools to present university demographics, performance metrics, benchmarks, and student outcomes, supporting academic program reviews. Participation in the administration of internal surveys using Qualtrics, including the analysis and reporting of survey data, is also a key function of this role. The analyst will assist in creating and maintaining content on the IRDS web pages and perform other related duties as assigned or requested. Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in social science or a research-related field.
  • One (1) year of professional experience working with data.
