About the position

The Institutional Research Analyst coordinates and implements qualitative research focused on student experiences, faculty/staff viewpoints, and institutional initiatives. This role involves conducting focus groups, interviews, and data analysis to support the College's strategic planning and institutional effectiveness processes.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts focus groups and interviews, collects data, interprets study results, and provides customized research reports.
  • Organizes and analyzes data using qualitative data analysis software.
  • Prepares data visualizations to display research findings.
  • Prepares and gives presentations to college teams/councils regarding analysis findings, as requested.
  • Consults with staff and internal clients to identify qualitative study needs, focus group protocols, and logistics.
  • Interprets, evaluates, and clarifies research requests to determine potential data requirements and sources.
  • Assists other members of the Research & Analytical Services Department in supporting the College's strategic planning and institutional effectiveness planning processes.
  • Develops and maintains effective working relationships with employees of all divisions throughout the college; functions effectively as a team player.
  • Responds to ad hoc requests for research and data analysis.
  • Maintains familiarity with academic assessment and program evaluation.
  • Maintains familiarity with the College's policies and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations.
  • Travels throughout the college district, as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required; Bachelor's Degree in Social Sciences, Marketing, Education, Business, or related field preferred; Master's Degree preferred.
  • At least one (1) year of experience in research projects requiring focus groups, in-depth interviews, and usability studies, required.
  • Experience with qualitative data analysis software, preferred.
  • Experience in a post-secondary educational environment, preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in qualitative research methods.
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of qualitative data analysis software, such as NVivo.
  • Strong technical documentation and writing skills.
  • Bilingual, English/Spanish, preferred.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem solving skills and the ability to exercise discretion and sound judgment.
  • Ability to prioritize, organize, and complete multiple tasks with attention to detail, within stated deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently as well as a team player within department and with others.
  • Strong computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, the Windows environment, and internet research skills.
  • Ability to adapt to constant change and periods of fast-paced, high-intensity work situations.
  • Ability to work evenings and/or weekends as needed; willing to travel throughout the college district using own means of reliable transportation.
