About the position

The Institutional Research Analyst for Strategic Planning & Student Success at Rogue Community College (RCC) plays a crucial role in providing data analytical support for various strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing student success. This position involves collecting, researching, compiling, formatting, and analyzing data using a variety of statistical programming languages such as SQL and R, as well as statistical software and data tools like Microsoft PowerBI and Excel. The analyst will work closely with internal stakeholders to identify opportunities for data collection and leverage institutional data to drive strategic initiatives and improve student outcomes. In addition to data analysis, the analyst will be responsible for developing and administering surveys to students, college employees, and external stakeholders, including K-12 and workforce partners. The role may also involve coordinating large-scale research studies under the direction of the Director of Institutional Research. The analyst is expected to contribute to a culture of evidence within the institution, assisting in the development and execution of the culture of evidence plan and maintaining related documentation. Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with internal stakeholders to identify opportunities to gather or leverage institutional data.
  • Trains and assists internal stakeholders on data-informed decision making.
  • Composes reporting and/or Microsoft PowerBI dashboards as assigned.
  • Mines and analyzes data from institutional databases to drive strategic initiatives, student success outcomes, marketing, and business strategies.
  • Assists the director with the development of IR's culture of evidence plan.
  • Carries out projects on the culture of evidence plan as assigned.
  • Maintains documents related to the culture of evidence plan.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in social science, computer science, statistics, or a related area is required.
  • A minimum of one year of experience, including experience as a programmer/analyst, institutional researcher, or data analyst, as well as experience in project management, statistical data collection, and reporting, is required.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft SQL programming language, Microsoft Windows operating system, Microsoft Office application modules (advanced level), Microsoft SQL server, Microsoft Power BI, Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, inferential statistics, basic accounting, database programs and concepts, data storage, graphics software, spreadsheets, word processing, and statistical software is essential.
  • Familiarity with both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies is required.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and handle changing priorities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Experience in a college environment is preferred.
