The Institutional Research Analyst position at Texas A&M University - San Antonio is a vital role within the Office of the Associate Provost, focusing on supporting the University's Institutional Effectiveness planning and reporting efforts. This position operates under general supervision and is responsible for ensuring the quality of programs and services through comprehensive data analysis and reporting. The analyst will document all project processes, sources, and techniques to maintain consistency in methodology for future projects. This includes contributing to ongoing data quality initiatives and translating report requirements into actionable specifications using SQL or other programming languages to generate necessary data extracts, tables, and reports. In addition to technical skills, the analyst must anticipate and represent end-user needs, proposing analytic reports that address strategic, tactical, structured, or unstructured business questions. The role involves analyzing data, preparing statistical reports, and interpreting results using appropriate software. The analyst will respond to internal research requests from faculty, staff, and students, as well as collect, verify, analyze, and present statistical data in response to external requests. The position also requires the compilation, maintenance, and security of institutional databases, including downloading data from institutional resources such as Banner and COGNOS. Formatting data for analysis and reporting is a key responsibility, along with representing the Office of Institutional Research on various committees and providing training and technical support for faculty and staff. The analyst will support the Office of Institutional Research in mandatory reporting efforts, including IPEDS, CBM, LBB, and System reporting, while also performing other duties as assigned.
